Today it is my twitter anniversary, I have been on that network since February 2010. That is eight years ago, and I have written more than 3,500 tweets; that’s more than one a day. On LinkedIn, I will be turning 14 this June, and indeed, I do run additional personal on professional profiles on other social media networks.
However new social media has emerged, some networks are no longer active or relevant, and few others have changed their purpose or intended dialogue as new generations have embraced them. I need to admit I am not in control of the situation, which certainly makes me not comfortable nor suitable for the task at hand.
So, How do I sharpen the saw? I have been questioning my self on the topic for quite some time, should I join Snapchat? How should I leverage Instagram? How can I understand what channels are best suited to promote the company? Should I invest in AdWorks, play more attention to SEO? Which vendors should I trust to build our Digital Inbound Marketing campaign?
Way too many moving parts, but hopefully I found a program by Udacity, a Nanodegree on Digital Marketing covering the topics above and more over three months of practical education.
Udacity offers online higher-education courses on a variety of innovative topics like self-driving vehicles, artificial intelligence or machine learning. I like their approach as they partner with leading market vendors to get you job ready. Particularly on the Digital Marketing Nanodegree, you are getting lessons from a leading vendor on SEO, the most recognised name on social media analytics, the pioneer of inbound marketing or the most significant social media network.
I am only halfway through the program, and already it has helped me look at the subject with different eyes, making me eager to continue to go through the material and put the learned lessons to work. If you would like to learn more about my journey, please, consider following me on twitter.
